I have a pumpkin that is on day 25 and about 50lbs. The bottom or the pumpkin didn't fully develop and the blossom is underneath the pumpkin, it is starting to flatten more and more on the bottom. I had one last year that did this and when it got heavy enough about 100lbs, it just collapsed. I dont want this one to collapse. Could i possibly flip it 180 degrees so the thin wall is on top? If i just pick the pumpkin now at 25 days will it still mature and turn orange or just rot like a culled pumpkin?

hopefully you have other pumpkins to work with.

in all honesty a 50 pound pumpkin after 25 days from pollination is an indicator that the fruit is not healthy, even if it was not growing on its stem.

an average run of the mill ag pumpkin should be at least 150 pounds ( or more ) after 25 days

additionally, it would be difficult to quickly turn it upside down without stem breakage and it will
almost definitely stay the same color and rot soon if
removed from the vine. also, along with pap's data,
i think a pumpkin is doing well if after 30 days the estimated weight is 10X the # of the day (31 days, est wt. 310#) as a lower-limit guideline i use to comfort myself, lol--eric

I can keep a pumpkin for most of a year, but you cannot in the heat of the summer of phoenix unless you have a basement to keep it cool

I figured it was done, but I think i will try flipping it, not twisting it but flipping it over to the other side of the vine. I do have one other pumpkin. I wish the weight was 10x the number of days. Its on day 40 only about 100lbs.
