I was just wondering how important these two leaves were? The first one ripped off and now the second one is dying from the soil splashing up during watering (I can't fix that though because it's lying on the ground). Other than that the pumpkin looks very healthy!
Here is the link with the picture: http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/4175/img0243ih8.jpg Just copy and paste that into your browser.
Thanks

rotting vegetable matter will attract slugs and such to your plant more than usual, (note the three holes in the dead leaf) so i would lean toward yes, remove that leaf close to the main it is attached to with a razor blade or a cutting tool that can be easily sterilized with alcohol or similar before using it on another plant or leaf. this JUST my opinion. if it is necessary to cut-off the little rogue leaf that is in the way, that is okay because they don't usually amount to much. just make a clean cut without creating any 'stringies', like when you do this to a hangnail, lol---eric g

That yellowish brown leaf is a cotyledon I believe(two cotyledons normally open first, then the first true leaf). As far as I know, dying cotyledons shouldn't be a concern, as long as the rest of the plant is healthy.

Yea, that is the cotyledon. From what I can gather they are obviously very important before the first true leaf is germinated. As the plant gets bigger the importance diminishes.
Pumpkinpal I got some scissors and bleached them and cut the sucker off. It was on the main so I had to be a bit more careful than I had originally thought. I left no hangnails lol.
I appreciate the help guys.
