Back when I was a kid I'd pull them for a couple bucks.I did alot of jobs like that growing up. I don't know what kind of kids you have around. Hopefully someone will chime in with a way you can do it yourself Rootbeer maker. Good luck. Dave

...here is an idea i have had all winter and i'm sure it has been done or if not, somebody will patent it soon, lol---take a postage stamp moistener from an office supply store (it is like a bingo 'dabber', a small bottle with a sponge at the cap end of it) and fill it up with your favorite weed killer, i suggest Ready-to-Use (RTU) Roundup, and perhaps from a wheelchair that can roll-along on walking boards alongside the plant, if the dabber is attached to a bambo stake about 4 feet or longer, one could effectively 'dab-away' the weeds--at least THEN, they would not be coming BACK again in a few days to a week---i have NOT tried this myself yet but i intend to, so be careful if you do try it and test it first on an inconspicuous area of the neighbor's yard before on an AG! later---eric g

if i were disabled id be happy just not to have to weed at all. id spray the weeds (or get someone to do it for me )with round up before the plant covers come off ( so no spray gets on pumpkin plant ) then id wait and within a week most are gone. in two weeks- every weed sprayed is gone.

Round ups sussposed to not affect the soil. But the label says not to use it for spot treatement. Is it alright to spray around the plants as long as im careful of drift. Id like to spray tommorow I got behind in weeding and wonder if its alright to do so. Thanks for any answers.

You can spray right up to the plant yes. I'd HIGHLY recommend covering the plant because many times even a very fine mist can drift where you don't want it to go! I've gone as far to paint brush Round-Up on weeds within the plant. No problem at all.

I would watch some of the new formulations of Roundup that are for home use. They have added some other chemicals for a faster kill and they may not be good around pumpkins. I suggest getting the agricultural formulations. I also use the generic glyphosate products and they work just fine.

I agree, use the Ag formulations. I believe 41% glophosate is the norm???

The other thing i like is "Preen" as the plants grow through a handful down the rows and it stops weeds form germinating it worked well for me last year and will do it again this year
