I dont know about you guys, but every time I come in from working outside in my patch I'm finding at least 5 ticks on my dog and at least one tick crawling on me.
Do they seem worse this year then in recent years to you guys? Seems like there is a lot more of these skin crawling ,blood sucking mammer jammers this year to me.

What do you guys use for yourself and for your dog (pets) for protection?

For my dog I usually get the stuff from the Vets that come in a liquid form( about half a ounce roughly) that I put on the back of her neck and some on her back near her tail.(I did the same thing for my x-wife last year).

I cant remember the name brand off hand but I know the stuff isn't cheap.
So, I was just wondering what you guys use for your pets and for yourself for protection, because lime disease doesnt seem to be a pleasant thing to have if you end up getting bit by one of these nasty critters.

Sergeant's Gold squeeze-on from Wal-Mart $10-11. Thats about 3.50 a month for Fido. Beagles & Golden Retrievers here. Works fine here in the south where the ticks start crawlin' in March. Haven't found ANYTHING to keep the X from getting under your skin or off your back.

I use Frontline Spray, its cheaper and with two dogs, one bottle lasts all season. You have to spray it on and wear gloves...dogs can even get wet and it still workds. For me, well, I keep the grass cut and stay out of tall weeds..Croley

My daughter works for a vet. She gives us Frontline to use when we are taking the dogs where they can get ticks. It is simular to applying Anvantage but it works on ticks. We don't have fleas and ticks in the high desert but in the past we lived where there was tons of them. Frontline works and is much safer than store bought products. Here is the site for it. http://frontline.us.merial.com/home/

As anything more aint better.
Don't use the 1 a month drops on the shoulder and rear haunches, WITH the Collar.
We did 1 year!!
We noticed the fur around his neck got nasty and some bare irritated skin under his neck. Took him to the vet. who told us it was the use of both that was causing the skin/fur problem.
Only the drops now and NO PROBLEM.
I wear just the collar.

last season there is a place near here, we go fishing there. NO LIE. when you went there fishing you would catch 50 crawling on you. this year doesnt seem to be as bad, I use frontline flea and tick in a little bottle and put a line down his back, works real well, Gus is 120 lbs, sometimes even after using it i will find 1 here and there under his arm pits.

They aren't bad here in Michigan, but then again I'm in a greenhouse most days. When I visited home and went turkey hunting they were terrible! I was flicking them off my clothing in between looking around for turkeys coming into range of where I was hunting.

Man they are bad here in Central Pa. Never seen one in Pittsburgh where I grew up. Last year I had one attach to my butt. My wife had to get it out. Of course she ripped the body from the head. She had to dig it out with a needle. Needless to say she was not very happy.
