This has been one tuff start for me. All plants that I started in May are pretty much stunted and are close to being toast. I guess I should have used hoops. Pathetic!

Tough spring all the way around here in the midwest. The cold wet spring has put us two weeks behind. Some of my plants have stunted as well due the lack of nutrient uptake.

A dose of ammonium sulfate four days ago has perked them up and those yellow leaves are now greening up. I had enough pre-plant nitrogen calculated and applied, but that's not enough to count on now. The last thing I wanted was to add salt-based fertilizers, but the cold wet weather has made it necessary to apply something fast-acting. Just going to have to play the nitrogen by plant appearance.

As if the weather weren't bad enough, the cucumber beetles have moved in with a vengeance and temps. in the 90's by this weekend. Season sucks so far.

I hail from PA as well my friend. Pretty rough start. Some Leaves are ripping and wilting and I just broke a cot today. I still think we can pull off a big one if we just keep on going.

COld nights have shut down the best part of the growing day. We have some great weather on the horizon, so fret not my friends..

I have 3 plants in the 7-8 leaf range, one of which has already laid down and is ready to run!!! My 1502 is sluggish, but I am stoked to let this one go the distance after reading BackYard Giants.

Out of the 12 plants I have started it looks like all but 3 will be pulled. They are just so stunted that they have zero chance of doing anything. I have actually started more seeds this weekend. Its way late but I'll try and get something out of this season.

Very slow from the get go, but this past week has done the plants well. no casualties which is always good. I think they have have been growing more in one day then they did the first 2 weeks they were out. Still windy.

Jeff, the plants you have in the ground are well ahead of any seeds you'd be starting. I wouldn't pull the ones you have in the ground. I'd give them as much protection from the elements as you can and try to push them a little with the ferts to get them as large as possibly by the end of June.

It sounds like I'm at about the same place as Rocky. My best plants are ready to run.

Same as sam, mine were also ripping and wilting. I now keep ot of the wind and out of the sun for most of the day. They are finally beginning to grow.
