Is this good to mulch around the plant base, 4x4 area?

Remeber coco shells contain choc and choc is semi posinous to daogs so I dont like it.

I have never used it in my patch but it works well in some flower beds we have and dogs and cats do not bother with it at all! give it a try and post results! can turn out to be the next big thing!!
