OUR GOOD FRIEND SUSAN WARREN OF "BACKYARD GIANTS" FAME IS WRITING AN ARTICLE ABOUT HOWARDS LIFE TO BE PRINTED IN SUNDAYS WALL STREET JOURNAL.I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO READ IT.

AS FOR ME I HAVE MY OWN PERSONAL TRIBUTE TO HOWARD. WHO BY THE WAY I CONSIDER ONE OF THE NICEST PEOPLE I HAD EVER MET.

HOWARD WAS NEVER TO BUSY TO TAKE THE TIME TO ANSWER A QUESTION OR EXTEND A HAND IN FRIENDSHIP. WHEN I MET HIM AT NIAGARA SEVERAL YEARS BACK I WAS IMPRESSED AT HOW APPROACHABLE HOWARD WAS.
SOME BIG TIME GROWERS USED TO PRANCE AROUND LIKE SOME HIGH PRICED RACE HORSE WITH THERE HEADS IN THE CLOUDS.

NOT HOWARD. THERE HE WAS SITTING IN HIS CHAIR, SIPPING A COLD ONE AND TALKING TO ANYONE AND EVERYONE.
THE MAN WAS PURE CLASS.

WE WILL NEVER FORGET HIM DANNY

IN 1981 I saw--[giant pumpkin seeds in catalog]--and had new daughter--and needed to grow one for her --a 80#er-!!
1982 I got more seed and that fall saw a clip in the paper for a pumpkin contest at Collins NY--and won a 3rd place --A few weeks after I received a call >SAYING >this is Howard Dill--and asked what seed I had used and could I send some to him---And so the letters and phone calls and seeds trades started between Howard and I-- A great friendship was made with the Dill family---I just what to say thanks you--- Craig Lembke

I checked out the weekend edition of the WSJ. There is a "Rememberence" page with a big story on Mr. Simplot. (The guy who sold french fries to McDolands, was an early invetor in Micron and a Forbes 400 member.)

Perhaps the Howard Dill piece will be in the upcomong weekend edition.
