When should we start thinking of removing the enclosure. I usually do it three days before the hail storm. Maybe I will be luckier this year. I usually wait till I outgrow it and the main wants to take off. Bad Tstorms here yesterday.

I took mine down last weekend. With the daytime temps in the 80's, it was getting too hot inside, even when opened. The leaves were showing signs of strain. Now that they are down, the weather is predicting lows tonight in the upper 30's with scattered frost...figures. Blame Al Gore. I do have a wind fence in place since the hoop houses have come down.

our inclosures are clear plastic and 5ft wide x 7 ft long
they stay up until the very last minute
and with the plants being behind this year they will be on for another ten days ---- at least

As the night time temperatures move up, I replace my clear plastic on the hoophouse with a 50% shade cloth. Since I work at home,( I have a small cabinet shop in my back yard) I can take that off if the temperature is too cool.I also got a Shade cloth that was made to fit my whole garden, but I might not put it up this year unless it gets super hot.

seldom is it all or nothing. perhaps a couple of sawhorses with walking boards across them, and something heavy on top of them would allow full air circulation but also full protection from anything from above, if the concern is more that than anything.
