Can someone please explain to me the correct way of hand pollinating and understanding if the pollination "take" or "do not take".
I understand you take the male flower, peel off the leaves and rub the pollen around the entire female flower.
But what I dont understand is they say sometimes some females take the pollination and some do not.
How do you know if it takes or not.
thanks

jeremy you will know within four to five days if the pollination was a success. if it was a success the pumpkin will start to grow, if not? it will not grow and dry out like a prune weather plays a big roll in pollination success. excessive heat , rain, play a big roll in your success rate. pap

I rub the pollen all around the lobes of the female, not on the petals.
