Who would have thought that a female would show up two feet from the base? The main is not even on the ground yet! Even the Slusarek 1465 has a female at two feet out!
This has never happened to me in ten years of growing....
....must be the Compost Tea!

Yea Stan, this 1566 is a female producing machine. First female at 7 ft. mark on the main. The #3 female bloomed one day and 3 days later the #4 female bloomed. This plant keeps you busy. On a 16ft main 5 females so far and two sets.

Thanks for reassuring me that my plant is "behaving normally".

Stan, I know JD uses heating cables, and I would like to know if you do, or if you know what your soil temperature is.
Thanks
Eddy

No heating cables in my patch, Eddy. Soil temperature is about 73-75°F inside the hoop houses. Daytime maximum temps. are usually between 85-95°.

I watched this last spring and came to the conclusion that anything above, I think 72 degrees will throw females, If you keep the temp lower, then Males will be produced,
It's the plants way of assuring reproduction, cooler temps equals males, warmer temps equals females. I actually tried lowering the ground temp last year and my plant switched to males after it had produced 5 females in a row.
