It has been 5 days since I have had the heat(99). I have seen the funnel clouds all week. They are common here. One hit the back side of my house and shook it. The other was smaller but I watched it just miss my patch. I did have 65 mile a hour gust. Today is only 25 mile a hour gust so far. I am not flooding but I have had lots of rain. Tonight could be snow when temps drop to 32. We are having Thunderstorms so we could see fire too. My babies look good. I have kept them covered when the wind picks up. Right now I am letting them get some rain. I am just on guard. I don't have heaters or hoop houses. I might fill some bottles with warm water tonight and cover them.

I just read the Weather Forecast for California. It read like this.
Sunday, May 25, 2008 9:51 AM
TOTALS OF BETWEEN 5 AND 9 INCHES OF NEW SNOW HAS FALLEN IN THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS ON MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN WITH MORE TO COME.....CURRENT POSITION OF UPPER TROF IS ALONG THE CALIFORNIA COAST TODAY WITH UPPER CLOSED CENTER NEAR BAY AREA.....MORE SHOWERS AND OR THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE TODAY SUNDAY INTO THE EVENING.....
IT WAS AN INTERESTING WATER VAPOR LOOP LAST NIGHT SHOWING SEVERAL EDDIES...6 TO 7 COUNTED MARCHING AROUND AN UPPER LOW...MAKING THERE WAY INTO SOUTHERN CA. SEVERAL NWS FORECASTERS "NEW AND OLD", COMMENTED THAT THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN SO MANY AT ONE TIME.
UPPER PATTERN CONTINUES TO DEVELOP AS EARLIER PREDICTED....THAT IS TO RETROGRADE THE UPPER LONG WAVE FEATURE OFF-SHORE, WHILE EJECTING SHORT WAVES INTO CALIFORNIA THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH.
ALTHOUGH THERE WILL BE SOME ADDITIONAL SUNSHINE MONDAY AS THE CURRENT UPPER LOW EJECTS EAST INTO NEVADA AND SOME NVA IS EVIDENT IN THE MODELS. HOWEVER, THERE IS PLENTY OF MOISTURE THAT WILL WRAP AROUND THE LOW WITH SOME UPSLOPE THREAT OF SHOWERS.
A LITTLE LATER IN THE DAY MONDAY....A SECONDARY UPPER LOW NOW NEAR 50N AND 130W IS EXPECTED TO DROP SOUTH TO NEAR 40N AND 130W BY MONDAY NIGHT. ONSHORE FLOW WITH EMBEDDED SHORT WAVE ENERGY IS EXPECTED MONDAY NIGHT WITH SOME DRYING CONDITIONS OVER THE REGION BEFORE IT MOVES ON SHORE WEDNESDAY PM INTO NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. AT THE LEAST THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS THEN.
OVERALL I SEE AN ENDLESS CHAIN OF SYSTEMS MOVING THROUGH THE NORTHERN HALF OF CALIFORNIA....THROUGH NEXT WEEKEND AND EFFECTING THE EASTERN SIERRA IN THE FORM OF CLOUDS....COOLER THAN NORMAL TEMPS....AND YES.....THE POSSIBILITY OF ADDITIONAL PRECIPITATION. AT LEAST ONE INTER-SEASONAL FORECASTER IS SAYING THAT WE WILL EXPERIENCE WESTERN TROFS.....ON AND OFF FOR THE NEXT 2 TO 3 WEEKS.
DR HOWARD AND THE DWEEBS.................:-)

This is the Weather forecast for the Mammoth Mountain region. Which is in Central Sierra Ca. He does a great job, one of the best! What he does is include entire Cal.
