I am behind. This far up north from you it is much worse. Must be two or three degrees colder. I noticed the plants are not taking off just yet. Next week they should start. It is supposed to be hot this weekend. This happened worse last year with all the rain and cold weather.

Well things aren't moving the way they should in these cold temps. Been leaving hoops closed as the temps have been in the mid 50's. We should be in the 70's by this time of year. We had this cold snap last year. By Memorial Week, we were back on track. Patience I guess.

It is not just the right coast. Except for the past weekend, temps on the left coast have been frigid.

It's for real. The sandbags are on to keep them warm.
Really it's the lack of sun.

U.S. We learn from the best. I doubt we can live up to the Master Sandbagger but it is worth trying. Also is very entertaining.

Welcome to our usual May temps. We here in Central Ontario deal with these temps every May. Last year at this time we lost 2 of 4 plants to a freeze (27 F). This year our plants are still alive (fingers & toes crossed), so we're in good shape. Hopefully it'll warm up soon though. Good luck all.

Sorry, guys...I'm at least 2 weeks ahead of last year. I attribute this to hoop houses, space heaters and heating cables. But there is a cost...my wife was asking why our electric bill jumped $100.00.

Just to make everyone feel better. I think I MIGHT be a day behind here :) Weather has been terrible here too. Lots and lots of lows in the 30's and one plant with frost damage.

A Family of POLAR BEARS set me back a bit. Slept in my cloches, on my plants 1 chilly night. Said they were heading south to D.C. see if they could warm-up in Al Gore's heated swinning pool. "TOO dang cold up here!!" they said.

Behind here as well in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The weather guy keeps saying its going to warm up. Projecting 70 plus degrees to hit by Sunday and for those temps to stick around for awhile. He best be right this time.

Ned, the weather man in Honesdale is my nephew.. I told him to say that.
On a serious note, I am hoping for this to be one of the last nights I have to turn onthe inside lights next to the plants. 3 blankets over each and it is nice and toasty inthere. I am seeing some growth, which is cool, but to think July 1-4 for pollenating is a bit ambitious.

I must be the lucky one here in New Hampshire we have had lots of sun and little rainfall I have not seen it this dry in a long time. I guess it is better than under 3 feet of water like 2006. It seems the cold weather is staying south of us this time around weather can really be strange.
