I have a small cloche over each plant (5 x 5 x 4) so all I need is a 75 watt bulb and an aluminum dome on it to direct the heat. Works great for me.

For cold climates I suggest a 250 Watt infra red light bulb. Another light frost here this morning and the plants are all toasty warm. Just watch out for your electric bills though. LOL JOhn

we have had good results from a 75 watt black light set about a ft away from the plant and then we cover the plant with a large styrofoam cooler over the plants and bulb. (we cut the edge off two coolers and set them side by side to make a larger covering) to small a cooler and you will burn the plant. on the east (easy) coast this year we have had crappy weather and without pushing the plants they will not be ready by july 1st. pap

Rock and Ned –
You both have small cloches (5x5x4) and use 75 watt bulbs with aluminum domes to direct the heat, and it works great for both of you. That’s crazy!
