I'm late getting the plants in the ground. I'm finally ready but the weather is nasty. I'm going to plant them on Friday as it's supposed to warm up.
My question is - the plants are "stalky", maybe 6 inches from the dirt to the leaves. Should I cover it with dirt up to the leaves or should I leave the stalk exposed?
This is new to me and I'm looking at this year as practice or a warm up for next season.

Plant them all the way up to the leaves.

Thanks AJ. That's what I thought. Should I backfill over several days or it is OK just to backfill all the way when I transplant.

All the way when you transplant. That stalk can snap easily in the wind.

All the way to the Cots and I would use a little B-1 to reduce transplant shock...
