i transplanted all my plants into the patch yesterday. the weather the next few days is rainy. i have 5 gallon buckets over each plant for nightime frost.
should i keep the buckets over them for the next few days all the time so the rain doesnt drench these young plants?
after tuesday, looks like nicer weather coming.

Protect the plants at night with the buckets. As long as the rain is light you shouldn't need to cover during the day. You should really try and protect the young plants from wind. That's were the most damage will come from.

If you have a kitchen strainer, use that to put over them during the day so they get some sun, but no direct heavy drops of pounding rain.

No...I would give the transplants as much of the elements that they can take (within reason). Protect from flooding & high winds for sure, but they need to feel their world too.

You can build 4x4 frames out of scrap wood and 4 mil plastic very quickly. It is a coll spring
