I was paging through some papers that came with my 1157 Companion andit said that it was a cucurbita pepo. I always thought that Atlantic Giants were cucurbita maxima. The papers were from customs however (I live in the U.S. and I ordered it from Howard Dill in Nova Scotia). They made a mistake right?

you can't trust customs. They messed it up.

C. pepo is a hard stemmed pumpkin.
C. maxima (eg. Dill's Atlantic Giants) are soft stemmed winter squash originating in S. America.
The 1157 is a C. Maxima or Dill's Atlantic Giant.
