STUPID MISTAKES I've already made this year: 1. LEAVES WEREN'T ALL TILLED IN AND DIDN'T COMPOSE ALL THE WAY. Nitrogen is being robbed. 2. WHITE PLASTIC FOR CLOCHES. Stupid mistake that has kept temperature too low in cloches and basically set me back a week. Bummer. At least I started early! 3. DIDN'T GET A GOOD ENOUGH TILL DONE IN FALL. And with the wet spring, premium sites had to be planted in before they were completely ready. 4. BURNED SOME LEAVES BY PUTTING TOO MUCH FISH FERTILIZER ON THEM. Nothing goes on the leaves for a while. 5. NO BUG CONTROL. Should have put down some Merit or at least sprayed seedlings with NEEM Oil. Weird white rim on leaves caused by ? spider mites? aphids? already. I get it every year. I'm sure that there are all sorts of other dumb things I've done that I just haven't realized them yet! Anybody else care to share early mistakes (in the hope that others won't repeat them!)

How was I supposed to know that a 60 ft long hoop house would turn into a "super sail" in high winds?

i watered with cold water from the spicket instead of warm water one day and the temps went back down that night and a combination of me cooling the soil and 3 cool cloudy days got some plants leaves yellowing a bit. cold wet soil and cloudy days is a "no no" and i should no better. and just cuz the the top inch of soil is dry doesn't mean it is time to water. the rich compost i added this year to the soil holds moisture longer than last years soil. i do not know how many posts i have read this crappy spring warning not to over do it. but noooooooo, it can't happen to me cuz i have greenhouses and space heaters. Doh!!!! just what i need to do now is slow the plants back down when they just started growing better.

LoL. I know what you mean... Theres a chance I have not even got a way for my plants to survive. I left my 1048 inside a week longer then I should've... the blinds fell on it so, Im hoping it didn't damage nething.... we'll see its up to mother nature and me now I guess. This is my first year... So I will be happy with whatever I get.

Not opening the hoops before LEAFing for church causes some interesting foilage on young plants.

Man it's good to know I'm not the only one that's not off to a good start. I have the same kinda problem as Shazzy, it's been raining for a long time and it's been pretty cold so I also have some yellowing on the plants. After what calcubit said, I'm feelin' pretty good, I'm happy just to grow these awesome plants. I'm hoping the weather will pick up, and the pumpkins will get back on track, so they will grow nice and big.

Stay out of the patch after you have had a few beers. Everything seems like a great idea (at the time).
