Supposed to get to 108 degrees this Friday, nearly 15 degrees warmer than the record high temp for the day! We get these kind of temperatures in July, but May? We will have 55 degree swings between high and low. I just hope the plants can survive and are not set back too far. Were are going to be in the 90's and 100's for the next week or so. I am going to put shade covers on the greenhouses (like I need them anymore...lol), and see if I can get the misting system together by Friday (doubtful). Any other suggestions?

i would remove the greenhouse plastic and use the supports with shadecloth. to do a quick individualize location misting system directly above each small plant, get a section of polytubing long enough to snake through the patch at least 10 foot from each plant. punch into the tubing and use 1/4" connectors and attach spaghetting tubing long enough to reach the plant and go up and attach to a 5' stake. zip tie the spaghetti tubing with a mister head attached to the end and stake over each of the plants. place stakes opposite side of the way the wind is blowing so mist falls directly on the plant.

call dripworks asap and have them overnight the polytubing, a punchhole, 1/4 inch connectors, misting heads, 1/4 inch spaghetti tubing , a end stop plastic piece and a threaded connection piece to attach to the spicket. and a timer that will allow you to program as many times as possible. for that heat i would mist at least 10 minutes once per hour. get the 5' green garden stakes and zip ties at home depot.

Dale, we are having some early season high temps here also.... probably over 100* tomorrow.
Misting and shade cover are a good idea..... also make sure that your soil is good and moist at least 6 ft. out from the plant. The reflective heat can fry a seedling (or young plant).

75 degrees out today and was getting upwards of 90 in the hoophouse with both ends wide open. I put the fan on high to circulate the hot air out and that seemed to help quite abit. Forcast calls for 3 more days of unusually hot temps here in B.C. and then plummenting back down to below seasonal norms....wierd but I will take it as my plants are really starting to take off.

Nice and hot for Chad in Pemberton I guess.

Hit 100 officially in my patch, and it was only supposed to hit 93. 103-108 predicted Friday, will they be off by 7 degrees also? Plants are handling it.

Over 100° here today too and they say hotter tomorrow. My plants suffered no damage so far. One plant is completely under shade cloth and the other had the micro sprinklers running for 5 minutes on a 10 minute cycle.

Unreal heat wave today in the Pacific Northwest! We hit 92
degrees! Beat the previous May 17th record high temp by 7 degrees. Of all the plants that took it the hardest....the Glasier 1158 received some leaf burn! Imagine that....a California plant!!!
