I am a fairly new grower at this and I was told when the third leaf arrives, plant it outside. How large does the leaf have to be, just visuable or a full size leaf? Question two: People have been talking about pollinating their own plants, won't bees do the job? How do you pollinate the pumpkinns, just shake the male flower onto the female flower? This all sound so technical.

kaptain,
When to plant out is largely based on the pot size versus your last frost date. If your still getting dangerously cold weather, then waiting is prudent ONLY IF the pot is large enough to not cause a pot bound condition.
Leaf count is irrelevant.
