I recieved pumpkin seeds from varios growers and they all had a male wieght and a female weight. I was wondering what the difference was because I thought all pumpkins were female to begin with?

K, The weights refer to the weights of the parents of the seed in question. The 1000 Smith X 950 Jones is a seed from a pumpkin that was grown on a vine from the 1000 Smith crossed with a male from the 950 Jones vine. WPM

The "male wieght" is actually the wieght of the female pumpkin on the plant from which the pollen (male ) was used to pollinate with.
1068 Wallace X 1354 Checkon
1068 is the wieght of the female pumpkin from which the seed you are getting came from.
1354 Checkon is the wieght of the female pumpkin grown on a diffrent plant, which had seeds produced and planted and are now growing on a plant and being used to pollinate with.
