I know this seed is being planted heavily this year. I am just wondering if this is a slugish starter for others? I also find it interesting in other posts that there have been several club roots and some germination problems. Does anyone else growing this seed have any observations?

mine sprouted the same day as all my other plants on april 22 and went into the ground 4 days later. as of last week i too had some concerns because it was slightly behind my others in growth. with a couple nice sunny days earlier this week it has caught back up in size with the some of the others. it is not my fastest growing plant at this stage, but that doesn't mean much at this time because we can't see what is going on below the ground with the root system. the plants right now are concentrating more energy below ground to establish a good root base. in the long run with warmer weather, i think they will all do their thing just fine. and i have never got my biggest pumpkin of the year on the fastest growing plant. that is just in my case and i am not sure if others have had the same result as far as fastest growing plants early vs. end result weights. it might be an interesting topic for more imput from others.

My 1041 is doing well, one of my best plants at this point of the season. Still early though. I wouldn't woory too much about slower growing plants now. It will catch up.

Mine was one of the last to germinate taking 96 hrs in the paper towel (my 998 too 12 hrs). It was a little sluggish coming out of the dirt as well, but it seems to be doing better now and has turned into a decent seedling. I'm not really bothered by this now, but it may be a few extra days behind the others going in the ground.

My 1st 1041.5 did not germinate so I had to use my second one. It struggled, but is now in the garden and doing okay. I think it's just the stigma that goes along with the potentially great seeds, warranted or not. lol

I'm very happy with my 1041.5 now that it's in the ground. Scared me for a while when I was waiting for it to germinate though.
