Frank,
Let it go for a couple nodes. If it doesn't grow out of it by itself you might need to "operate" with a clean razor blade.

sorry to hear that littlebit. I had a double vine my first year, let it grow, and got a 256 pounder out of it. Not bad for a rookie.

Several years back I grew a 996 Emmons plant that double vined. I pruned the vines so that each resembled a flag pattern. On the same day a flower was pollinated on each vine at about the same distance. I took the first pumpkin off around August 15 for the Marshfield Fair. It weighed just over 400 pounds. The other grew to 621 pounds.

My 1370 Rose plant started out double in 2006. It fixed itself and grew out of it. I gave it a little extra nitro to push it. Ended up growing my 1302. I have had luck with the surgery method also.

Ive done it 3 times one grew my 972. I give the plant about 5 six feet to grow out. If not I cut and retrain a secondary. It knows its the main and will beef up. Dave

frank ,if its a symetrical double vine, wait till you have the mains on the ground.prune one of the tips and go with the other as a main .they can straiten out on their own.either way youll have a normal plant layout

Keep a close eye on it Frank...My doubles always seem to Flatten out...think training a round vine is risky a flat one is impossible without hearing that dreaded "Snap"...good luck with it! Chuck
