Boom Boom

Sort of Sunny Sometimes, WA

Well this year, due to the generosity of some really great growers I got my hands on some really great seeds. I carefully filed them labeled them, soaked them and put them in my pots with starter mix, and then in my funky germ chamber as I have each year. I should have known I would be cursed. . . I managed to be unable to germ my 985 that Quinn gave me as well as replacement given to me by an equally generous grower who even though he grew a 1662 this year, will remain anonymous. I was also unable to keep alive a wonderful surprise seed given to me by another great grower. I can't tell you the name of the seed since I'd be sure to wake up with burning pumpkins on my front lawn. I'm so sorry Jim. . .
Anyway, all that to say. . . after bemoaning my ineptitude one evening in chat, Tom P inspired me to write this:

"I Will Rot You"
(to the tune of "We Will Rock You". . don't forget to "boom-boom-clap" when you sing it)

Got myself some name seeds
Don't wanna do not lame deeds this go round
Wanna grow a BIG ONE some day
I got mud in the pot
Musta kept it too hot
Why did I bother to till that new spot

Cryin' I will, I will rot you (bwa ha)
I will, I will rot you

Sorry Mr. Quinn man, good man
I got tears in my eyes
Was gonna make it big with your 985
I got mud in the pot
kept it too hot
Even the second one that I got

Cryin' I will, I will rot you
I will I will rot you!

(Still got plants to back it
so there's a chance to get a jacket)

Erin,

I know how you feel. The 1097 I purchased at auction failed to germinate. It's the only seed I've ever started that I paid for and the only one that ever failed to germinate. There goes my 1005 Mombert x 1097 Beachy(same cross as the 664.5 Liggett).

However, I finally managed to get a 985 Werner going well(remember the wind storm that took out my 985 last year?).
Well, my dream cross last year was the 664.5 x 985. What if I cross the mother of the 664.5 with the 985?

The 1005 is the most beautiful plant I've ever seen-very similar to the 664.5 start that Dr. Bob was so generous enough to offer. I just lost another plant, our 854.5, to yet another wind storm. Blew two of my structures 1/2 mile away. Dr. Bob gave me a 1524.5 to replace it. What a guy!

Yes, Frank is right. Everything happens for a reason.

Boom Boom makes me want to sing....for every season...turn turn turn...for every reason turn turn turn....Should be till till till....
My 1404 McKie that I wanted so badly to cross with Doc Liggetts 1524.5 turned turned turned into green goo.....I too Joe, paid money through our auction for the seed. OUCH. Too much water, not enough heat, too much love...who know's, it happened. Oh well, till till till.........Start another seed and sing the lords prayer!!
