I HAVE ALREADY CONSIDERED THAT YOU HAVE SOME FORM OF PROTECTION FOR THE YOUNG PLANT.THAT YOU HAVE MADE ARRANGEMENTS TO KEEP IT COZY AND WARM AT NIGHT --- NOT TO HOT IN THE DAY TIMe and YOUR SOIL IS READY TO GO.

1. NO NEED TO OVER WATER SEEDLING. MOIST SOIL IS GOOD, HEAVY WET SOIL CAN HELP INTRODUCE EARLY DISEASE.
2. IF CUT WORMS ARE A PROBLEM IN YOU AREA PLACE A PLAsTIC RING AROUNG THE SEEDLING WITH A INCH OR SO BELOW THE SOIL AND AN INCH OR SO ABOVE. rings cut out of a plastic gallon jug work well.
3.if a cool wet spell is on the way - dont over water.
4.dont cook the plants during warm days. heat shock is just as bad as cold. err on the side of caution when leaving for work.
5.when plant starts to run a main you can help ease her down by building soil up under the main and a gentle stake on each side so the wind can not snap her.
as the main grows you can remove a little of the soil under the main daily.
6.if you wish too ammend when watering do so with a mild mixture of fish or kelp.

that will do it for now. hope this helps

Pap, If I wanted to introduce a little Blood meal when would be a good time? Should I dissolve it (tsp per gallon h20) and foliar feed it or spread it around the seedling and water it in?
Thanks

I do not know how many growers sign in just to see what you have posted, but you can count me in as one of them. I guess I am a Pap addict...LOL

Any ideas for a new comic series?

phil ---- we have cut worms here on the east coast in the usa. its a worm that likes to eact at groundlevel and will knaw the seedling at the stem just like a small beaver on a tree.

bumpkin ----we sprinkle a handfull of blood meal and a soup bowl full of micro inside the 5x7 greenhouse a week or two before planting, then at planting we start buy adding a handfull of micro to the hole, mix it in, and set in plant

owen ---- i may do some custom tee and sweat shirts with cartoons and/or club logos this coming off season. stay tuned lol

Phil we do also have cut worms in the UK they are the lava from a Crane Fly or as we might call them a Daddy Long Legs. You will have this problem if you have turned over old grass or rough ground that has been established for a few years, ground that has been cultivated for several years does not suffer so badly because the adults have nowhere to lay their eggs. If in any doubt take Pap's advice it's very good.
