I am in the patch today with my son who is 5 and my daughter who is 2. Both helping me out and digging a few holes while I am putting up the hoop houses. My son looks up at me and goes, that plant you have downstairs dad, the big one, it is going to be like a Rhode Island one. It is going to be a monster.....I could not stop cracking up.

The family and I go every year to their weighoff and it is such a great time. Olbviously my son knows where the big ones are grown. I just thoughtt I share that with everyone.

Get the kids out in the patch and involved. It is good for them.

well I just had to add to this post while out in the Patch yesterday my son(3 years old) picked up my hoe and proceeded to hoe the dirt. I wanted to encourage his effort so I told him thank you for tilling my garden he immediately said it was the families Pumpkin Patch and he wanted to make it look good!!! Wow I love it!! he's already taking ownership of the Pumpkin Patch.This could mean years of help in future patches,which could mean more Plants Now all I have to do is convince my other half that Expanding my current patch would be a great idea!!?
