What did the 1225.4 Jutras 03 go to the Chart?

Widely regarded as the biggest “RED” Beauty ever, pictures of the fruit show a very round, symmetrical, evenly ribbed Pumpkin, and with no common flaws, like sag lines, or dips either.

But was she go heavy, or light, or about chart? Also was she a 4 or 5 lobe (just scientific curiosity)?

I cant seem to find the AGGC listing for it.

Last I heard, she was also the source off the males used to pollinate the 998.6 that the current record was grown from.

0.75% heavy, 5 lobe. Yes it was the pollinator of the 1689.

joes 1225 seed also grew scott palmers number two in the world pumpkin in 2005 (1443)
and yes the 1225 is the prettiest large pumpkin i have ever seen.

to my knowledge the 1225 offspring never threw off a real beauty like the mother ( thats because the 845 bobbier was the pollinator of the 1225 ) but the seed is very productive

to duplicate the beauty of the 1225 you would need to go after the mother seed of the 1225. forgot what it was so you will need to look it up ( i think it was a steve daletas seed ).

The momma of the 1225 was the 1016 Daletas.

pap,

So, in theory, if say someone crossed a 1470 (1502 x 998.6 correct me if I'm wrong) as the female, and used a male off of a 1016 Daletes to pollinate her and the result would be a XXXX (1470 x 1016) then the offsrping of XXXX would have a good chance of having all of the growth benefits of the 1470 (hopefully), and a chance at the collor of the 1225.4?

Would it be worht looking at the father of the 1016 Daletas to really see where the color comes from?

In pics of the 1225.4, it had an excellent shape too.

yes if you pollinate a 1470 with the 1016 daletas you are attempting to reintroduce more color into the offspring.
and probably will.(although the 1470 should carry over more color anyway because of the pollinator used)

we breed for size . color is only a consideration if the seed came from a large well shaped, imperfection free type fruit.

the 1470 was imperfrection free, great barrel shaped, split and dill ring free (inside and out ) thick pumpkin.

thats one reason why it mommie (1502) will see so much dirt this year.

Shoot, the 1470 itself I would bet is being planted a lot too.

Results are not in yet, but I think the 1470 may be the one to look for.

If you got fruit going the volume of the 998 offsrping, and the thickness of the 1068 line (1502 and 1470), then be are taling a total of 430+ going 10-15% heavy, do the math and we are talking 1700-1800 pounds.
