Mine are still in the cellar. Decided to keep them seeing it was raining like crazy. Tomorrow they will go out but still have to watch the cold for the rest of the week.

Frost advisory posted for this region too. Mine are not ready for dirt yet, but, will be using hoop house this year to help keep them warm. Right now they are under grow light doing just fine.

Thanks for the post Steve! You may have saved my dream season with this post. I read it at 11pm last night and ran outside and put pails on all my plants (they are all tented with heat but frost will penetrate!) Woke up this morning with a layer of frost on my tents and walking boards...

It is still cold. Steve, can you do something about it. All you do is talk about it.

Great news Jim! More of the same tonight though.

Oh we did something Rob.

We dragged all of the plants back inside last night. My son Stephen placed them on top of the refrigerator where they'd be warm. Then he got back to his homework. My wife came home before I could check his work & went right for the freezer knocking our 1041 McKie onto the floor, breaking it in half. Stephen was CRUSHED! I calmed everyone down but I'm still not sure how I stayed calm. Truthfully it was my own fault for not checking.

Stephen dutifully placed all of the remaining pots back on the deck this morning & then dragged them all back inside again tonight after band practice.

Bless his heart, Dan is sending us another 1041 tomorrow.

Friends & Family are what this is all about. Don't ever forget it.

Ouch! That is all part of the heartbreaking sport. Last year the kids were walking around the patch and stepped on one of the mains. It was hidden and was not caught for a while. Good fences make good plants. That is very nice of Dan.

That was one of my favorite Mark Twain quotes.
"Everyone talks about the weather but nobody ever does anything about it." The other is "It is better to be popular than correct."

Steve:
28F when I got up on 5/1/08, but a toasty 78F inside my outdoor heated greenhouse, in Sharon MA. All 10 plants were happy to be alive.
