I tilled up new ground for my patch this year, I did a soil test and know what I need. The grass was cut very short before the tilling, there are still clumps..will this cause me any problems down the line. such as the roots of the grass breaking down and taking nutrients from my plants. I still have 3 weeks or so before I plant. Any comments. Thanks, Croley

i turned over some sodd around my patch. till it up back in the fall. i will eventually cover the whole patch with 2-4" of compost come in the next week or two.
it isnt the best to leave it in there but the way i look at it, it will get better every year.

The nice thing about annual rye grass for a cover crop is that it breaks down quickly. It's been three weeks since my initial disking and it has nearly disappeared.
