What's better in the end - the seeds that germinate quickly (24-48 hrs) or those that germinate slower (72 - 96 hrs)? I ask because I've observed as much as a 24 hour difference with seeds coming from the same pumpkin recently under controlled conditions. Does it really matter come September/October?
Thanks

pumpki,it doesnt mean anything.the slow sprouters may blow by the fast ones and they may not.often one of your least impressive(early seedling) will catch a gear when its planted in the garden. 1068 wallace seed is a infamous slow seedling thats done OK

several years ago we had an extra 1068 plant that took forever to germinated ( even pull the seed out a couple times to see what was going on ) she finally germinated, had only one seed leaf and looked like shit. gave the plant to a buddy who drove 45 miles to get it and he went close to 1,300 with it. go figure?

There are too many factors involved. I think just germinating sometimes is a miracle itself.

The 845 Bobier was a very slow germinator also, I believe some took up to 2 weeks to germinate. Also the tan seeds can handle a long germination a lot better than a white seed. In my playing aroung, white seeds will rot in the seed in about week, whereas the tan ones are good for about twice as long

Pap,
How long (in days) is forever on the 1068 to germinate in your reply above?

Thanks for the responses - I guess if your lucky to have a 1068 forever is forever.
In the end - I've got to agree with Rob T that the whole thing is miracle!
