Greg,
If you haven't already gone to this site take a look here:
http://www.dripworksusa.com/store/dig.php
On page 10 of their catalog look for The timer with part number TGALGH34 its toward the bottom of the page. Costs $120 but it will do everything you could ever ask for a timer to do. I've had this same model for 3 or 4 years now and never had a problem with it.
The way I use mine is to set the time window for misting between 10am and 5pm. During that time window I set the timer to turn on every 10 or 15 minutes (I vary it according to how hot the days are getting) and I also set to the duration of time the misters will run. (usually 3 to 5 minutes per each cycle). Works really well.
By the way, I use DripWorks sprinkler head that they call
"Supernet PC" (blue base w/purple spinner). It's not a mister but rather throws small water droplets that are not carried off by the wind as much as mist gets carried off. They do a good job of wetting the leaves just enough to cool them down without soaking your ground.
Hope this helps you out. Vince

Well, now that I've just seen some really fancy timers, the one above I mentioned may not do everything you could ask a timer to do but it should work really well for you.
A temperature controlled timer would be sweet.

G great post! I like the idea of a PLC. Amazing. Scott, G, Vince after I read the links you posted, a DIG timer is what I am looking for! Sounds like they are reliable units and can handle unlimited cycle-durations. I want to get one of those!
Thanks!
