Hi Everyone!! There's a Solo450 mist and air blower on ebay, used for $400.00. Does anyone know anything about these? I've been looking around for the Stihl version but they are hard to find and I wonder about the ability to service one locally. Also Echo makes one as well..does anyone have one of these or know about them? Thanks in advance! Michelle

Michelle,
In a prior life I've run commercial power equipments shops.
Stihl, Echo, Red Max, Birchmeyer & Solo are all quality brands. Indeed many of the components are made by the same subcontractors. Indeed Solo, Echo & Stihl regularly cross brand each others products especially in Europe. Many features are only unique for marketing purposes & serve very little functionality. So don't get too hung up on the name.
Rather find a local shop that's been around a long time & isn't going away. See if commercial users like landscapers & farmers shop & get repairs done there. Check see that their primary brand(s) has been with them a while & look at their floor presentation of that brand(s). If that brand(s) is well represented & offers what you need then buy that brand in confidence.
Try to avoid the no-name stuff that even reputable dealers sometimes bring in just for the low price point buyers.

In other words: a good buy on eBay could be a problem if the local repair guys don't stock parts for it. likewise, some shops only service what they sell so ask around before committing.

I just ordered one Michelle. I'll keep you guys posted as to how it works. Not nearly as much weight for this ol' girl to put on her back as the Stihl mister.

Wow!! I just watched the site video..it looks easy enough. Also looks like the tank might hold around 3 gallons. I wonder how much straining you have to do on compost tea,etc to keep from clogging the unit. They don't mention using anything else other than the mosquito repellent that comes with it (which I also could use to spray for fleas around the yard!) I wonder if they sell replacement parts for it as well. Looks neat!! Good luck Boom Boom...I'll be anxious to compare notes with you!! Michelle

Don't fill the tank to the top as it has a propensity to leak down your back, making for an uncomfortable experience. Also, I set mine on a 3 foot table in the garden to put on as it get's heavy and awkward when full. Otherwise you can put almost anything you want in it just don't use any herbicides without cleaning the heck out of it!! Enjoy, It's a huge timesaver!!
