Buddy of mine gave me some mini pumpkins… Have to admit that it would be kind of funny to grow both mini and giant pumpkins… Not wanting to give up large patch room any of you guys think I can grow a plant or two in a large pot and train then on a trellis? Ever been done?

Climbing a trellis is no problem, have seen them hanging from a side trellis and overhead. Just weave through the trellis as they grow. Make sure trellis can handle the weight if they are small sugar sweets they can still weigh 4 to 5 lbs apiece with 6 or 7 on a vine the weight can add up. For a pot I would at least have a minimum well draining 20 gallon pot for each plant and may still have to water a little more often as plants can go through water on a hot day. On the edge of a porch in Vegas would be a great place to grow as the plants could get sun early and late and be shaded during the heat of the day.

Cool, thanks for the tips JD! I have all the pumpkins getting morn and late noon sun with shade in the heat of the day… The seeds are labeled as jack-be-little’s so I think they are going to stay on the small side… I have some 15gal pots that I think will fit the bill just right!!!

I use a 5ft high 20 ft long piece of chain link fence to grow mine on, works great as a wind break also once the fence is covered in vines.
