Rhode Island

the southern new england giant pumpkin growers have made amazing progress in three short years.something as a director i am very proud of.

2005 we were the top site average in the gpc.
2006 world record first over 1,500 pounds
2007 world record first 1,689
even more amazing when you consider the size of rhode island. a small fish in a big ocean.

our newsletter are cutting edge and we have been rewrded with over 400 loyal members.

rest assured we have taken every step to afford one of us the opportunity to retain that big trophy and orange jacket they give out at niagra falls yearly.

could it happen? yes. will it happen? the laws of average are against it.

this i do know however, we have made some great friends in the hobby these past several years. each and everyone of them is a contender.
anyone of which is more than capable to wear the orange jacket.

the best in 2008 to all of you from your friends in the sngpg

2006 World Record Pumpkin 1502 Ron Wallace
2006 World Record Long Gourd 126.5" Joe Jutras
2007 World Record Pumpkin 1689 Joe Jutras

Now thats 2 consecutive world records for Joe and Joe grew a squash in 2007. Ya think Joe might get the triple crown and grow a world record squash sometime in the near future? I think with his work ethic, knowledge, growing skills and some good weather it is very possible.

We've had the world record in the past up here in NH with Charlie Houghton's pumpkin, and Bill Rodonis was within tasting distance last year. That's what makes this so enjoyable....great competition and even greater friendships. The NHGPGA is chomping at the bit for 2008....
