Six more inches of snow today. I can't stand it...will spring ever arrive? (Waiting for warmer weather is driving me nuts.)

We got snow too! I can't believe I woke up and everything was COVERED! About the same as you, and it's that heavy wet stuff. My bulbs had just come up and crocuses were showing color. Now its all covered again and I don't know if i'll see crocuses or not this year.
Still planning on getting all my spring amendments ready to roll, so that is a positive note. Plus finalizing my seed selections is about 90 percent ready to roll. All good stuff. Hang in there, this is probably the worst of it.

I am just south of Diamondlady, on the border of NY and PA, and we got no snow here - BUT - 20 minutes away ELmira NY got almost 6 inches. A weird storm hit the area and it is strange seeing cars drive by with a pile of snow on top and we didnt get a flake!

I had to look it up, but i'm glad i posted it last year. If we're lucky enough that this is the last snow of the season, we're still a week ahead of 2007. i'm not holding my breath, but the forecast for the next week looks good.
about 3 inches here right now. i'm betting the 6 inch soil temp is colder this year than last, though.

Positive thinking here that this is the worst of what we'll get. Probably not the last snow we'll see, but we got about 6 inches of wet heavy stuff. YUCK! I agree, Spring, Spring where are you.....

cndadoc, Andy, its been raining here for the past 3 days, and suppose to continue for another 3 or 4 more. The only good thing is the temps are going to be in the 50's and they might hit 60 for one of them days this week. I wanted to have my spring prep done a little early this year, but it doent look like that is gonna happen, the ground around here cant hold anymore water.

It snowed almost to sea level here! It never snows here this time a year! I hope this means we're going to get a nice warm summer. We're due for one.

I have 20" of snow on my patch as of Friday, with another 6" of snow today, more tonight and another system forcasted for Sunday night. I am about ready to give up on this year and think about 2009.

Ah, the annual lamentations of winter-weary pumpkin growers.
I used to dwell on the pre-season winter woes and uncooperative spring weather myself. Just when things look so dismal and the rain never seems to stop, that magic week in mid-April appears and we get things done pretty much on schedule.
As for myself, I would love to get the leaves tilled in two weeks prior to the pre-plant amendments and try out the new Kubota and 4-ft. pto-driven roto tiller. All amendments are purchased and in storage....I'm ready to go.
Patience is a virtue.

There was snow in our forecast but it never reached us. While it has been a cool March, Mother has a way. Red Maple, Peach & Cherry trees are budding here.
