i been forced to start very late on my soil, and i was wondering, how long does it take for ammendments to set in the soil. additives like gypsum, meals, and humic acid. at what point does the soil come to life and the foodchain starts after tilling?

If you have not done it yet, there is still time and look at it as you have no choice. Add what is needed. I was told Kelp is added in the spring anyway. The rest will work. Gypsum is fine early spring but better in the fall as is compost. If you balance it now it should be fine. Just better to start in the fall. I always get busy in the fall and run out of time.

As far as gypsum and lime you should see results in about 6 weeks. Not sure about the other stuff.

Soil is a dynamic thing...always in flux. The items you mention can be safely applied in the spring.
