I'm seeing more and more diaries being posted... a sure sign of spring. I've still got 2 feet of snow and ice over my garden. It's hard to imagine that I'll be at it in 1 month and am chomping at the bit. I tried to snowblow my patch but the ice is too thick to get the blower to work. Highs are still only in the 30's. How is it everywhere else?

sounds about the same here in southern Ontario. It won't be long and with these warmer days and a little rain, all the snow will soon be gone!

I can so related. The minute the snow disappeared from the patch, I wanted to get a soil sample off to A&L Labs! Then, sadly, it snowed again last night and enough to put another dusting out there on the patch.
We will have to wait our turn, and believe me it will go by quickly. I'm getting that itch too, I really want to start seeds now, so I can stop agonizing over what will get planted and what won't see dirt until next year. I'm pretty close, but, it's still hard narrowing the choices down. For now, that is keeping me busy as well as designing hoop houses for the first time, all good fun over bottles of wine. Life is good, but, so ready for warmer temps.
I heard the forecast for later next week and I heard 50's! Woo Hoo! That is almost a heat wave compared to what we've been having. Easter is way too early this year.
Happy White Easter!!!

The cover crop on my patch is just starting to emerge from the snow. At least the ground is thawed, because we got a lot of snow before it froze much. Outside our valley where the sun has more power, most of the snow is gone except for the big drifts. We have cabbage, peppers and tomatoes started, and will start early watermelons soon. It is colder today, with a chance of flurries the next few days.

We mowed our covercrop the day before yesterday and will get the tiller in there real soon. pete planted a couple of tomatoes in wall-o-waters yesterday. i planted some basil in a pot and will protect from frost at night. Spring is in the air. It won't be long now.......still time to change those seed line up 4 or 5 more times! cindi

We are pretty much under water,at least for the eastern part of Missouri, do to alot of snow and then rain. Thankfully I'm high and fairly dry, and the weather is lookin' pretty good, the highs 50's and 60's, the lows 35 to 45. I gotta start a diary, I have been growing peppers indoors since Dec. I also just started my tomatoes.
......... but any way, good luck with all your growing and and I hope some of that snow will dry up soon for ya'.

Been like 65-70 here the last few days and averaging around 55-60 Ive been cleaning up after the winter and getting my hot houses up. Also built a new fence around the garden area to keep the dogs out.
