I have read many times that 120-150 days to a mature pkn. From sprout to harvest, that is. I want a pkn for mid August., and it came up today. I will have proper cold frame w/ heat till temps are warm enough. Did I start too early? Peace, Wayne

Mine came up two days ago Wayne! I was figuring a month and half earlier than the normal contests so I planted a month and a half early.

Wayne I planted mine last year on April 1st, and the pumpkin was done growing around the 3rd week of july. If I hadnt had the problems that I had, I could have squeezed a couple more weeks growth out of it. So having a seedling out now might be a little early from my perspective, however if the plant is problem free and the pumpkin has a steady growth rate there shouldnt be much of a problem. Only advice I have is, if for some reason the pumpkin does stop growing cut it from the vine then and store it until the middle of august, Im confident that if I had done that last year my 850 would have been weighed at Indy. But I let it just set on the vine hoping that it would make it.
