I think that I read some where that Joe Jutras banks up soil to help support the vine close to the fruit. You have to cut the roots to lift up the vine. Would banking up the soil under the vine, cause the vine, to send out more roots? Does the plant give it one try?
It would seem to me, that if the plant does give it another try, and sends out more roots, and since calcium doesn't move far within the plant. These roots, which so close to the fruit, "could be" an excellent way to get that valuable extra calcium into the fruit.
I am so sorry that this is such a lengthy, awkward question, but I could think of no other way to get my point and question across. thanks Kathy

The idea is to not cut the roots under the leaf nodes and carefully elevate the vine and roots. Not, cut them then build up the soil and hope it grows more roots.

Plants will throw roots out of more than one spot at the leaf node however.
