I cant seem to find it anywhere since last fall. It was widely available in all stores in the Chicago area (walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, even garden shops etc). Is there a good alternative to Daconil if it has become harder to get?

Gradual phase-out. The Pro versions of chlorothalonil are all ilegal for residential use whether garden, lawn, ornamental or vegetable. Only pro Agriculture & Golf uses remain on the 4# bottles now.
