Hi All
I have a quick question for u guys.In late October i sent Joe Jutras and a few other growers a letter. Not a bubble pack witch was stupid of me. and so far i have not got a letter back from some of the growers. So my point is should i print a few letters off the computer and send them a letter (again)in a bubble pack with some of my seeds. If so do u think it would be rude??? It is customary to send seed requests in a self addressed stamped bubble pack. You should always include a letter explaining to the grower who you are, what seeds you want and especially in the case of highly sought after seeds, why they should send them to you (ie commitment and ability to growing them). If you enclose, seeds to "trade", postage is not always necessary. If it is a Heavy Hitter, I usually enclose $1 to cover the postage. Many growers will send the money back! You have to remember that a lot of growers get hundreds of seed requests. It is labor intensive and costly to answer all of these requests. The easier you make it for the grower to fill your request, the more likely it is to get what you want.
If you wanted to send another request in a SASBP, with a letter explaining this was a second request because of an oversite, I don't think this is pushy at all, just thoughtful!
In the case of Joe Jutras, I heard a rumor that he hadn't returned any seed requests yet!

CountyKid is right on the money. If possible I also try to email the grower first about obtaining their seeds. ALWAYS include a note with your bubble pack thanking them in advance.

Paps posted somewhere here he got over 350 seed requests this year from individuals much less clubs. So if you send a seed request to a heavy hitter you really need to make it clear you are serious about growing the seed and make it as easy as possible for them to fill the request.
