I was sitting here thinking about the older growers who haven't really shined the past couple years and are well over due to bust a big one and get back on track.
What grower do you think is way past over due for a break out year?
My number one vote has to go to "THE KID TOM THE BRUSER Beachy"!! This guy is way over due and I think this year is when he makes his come back!

brooks, quick funny story. (i dont mean to offend "older" members of this community).
when you were like "older growers" i was literally thinking "older", but then you nominated a 25 yr old. what was so funny was when i first heard of tom beachy way back in the day, i thought he was old (70 plus). then i found out he was my age. lol.

I am hoping Len Knauss can make a nice comeback. Health and age have been a factor for Len, but he keeps plugging away!
(Thanks for the kind vote Ed!)
I look at growers who have been growing over 10 years who put everything into what they do, but seem to never break 1000 pounds. Besides myself, I am rooting for Ned Sandercock and Len to finally break the 1000 pound mark.
Editors Note** I want Ned to finish 1 pound behind me, but over 1000 pounds!

I think Joe Pukos id due to grow a monster. He has contributed the 735, 805, 998, 1231 and countless others I think after contributing such great seeds over the years no one is more deserving. My fingers are crossed for you Joe.

I ment the world record was grown off one of his own seeds (Joe Pukos)it would be nice if he broke the next world record..his seeds are diffently good enough......NSB 150 heck no, I'm going for 500.

I think Vineman (Russ Pugh) is way overdue. If you saw his patch, the seeds he grows, and the amount of dedication he puts into each season you too would be surprised that his end of season results are not better. Soon it will be his time.

While I do not consider Vineman (Russ Pugh) an "older" grower, I have to second Patchmaster's vote. He supports various clubs by spending big bucks on seeds and puts the time in to learn everything he can about giant pumpkins. The storage shed at his patch is full of the latest goodies to get those extra pounds. The patch is pad-locked with barbed-wire around the perimeter. Thousands of dollars have gone into amending the soil over the years.
Vineman always takes the time to help other growers with their pumpkins and will give on-the-spot advise when a plant problem develops. Russ is also very generous providing pollen from his pumpkins for other growers to make their own killer cross.
2008 will be the year of the Vineman!

'OLDER THAN DIRT'! Eddy, what's that make you? LOL thanks for the sentiment however. There's only one person in my opinion that 'deserves' to have a break out year & that's none other than iceman himself. Eddie, nobody puts in more effort and support for a hobby with such limited returns . Eddie I think it's time for you to join the ranks of Wallace,Jutras,Daletas,Checkon,Eaton and others to finally be rewarded for all your efforts. With that said I bestow upon you "comeback grower of the year for 2008!" what else do you give someone as old as Eddie?

LOL at Jim & Eddy. I agree with Jim. With the amount of support that Eddy put in, I'd be thrilled to see him join the Big Boys Club (+ 1500#). In my books, Eddy is already a HH. Thanks for all you do for this great hobby. We look forward to seeing you in Niagara.

I was surprised to see that George lloyd has topped 1000lbs with a 1027 in a post today. Not surprised that he did it at all, but very surprised that it took 5 months to be posted. Here's a loyal GP fan with 15? years of growing and responsible for the 935 Lloyd that rules our world and it took 5 months to come out in a post (might be in results but I havent seen it)? Well, here's to YOU Giant Pumpkin Grower George lloyd----Congratulations !
