Maybe, just maybe our director of the planitarium is a giant pumpkin grower??? Here is his description of last nights lunar eclipse...

"It is a completely unique experience...The moon looks like some kind of weird glowing pumpkin.”

A fully eclipsed moon doesn't just disappear in the night sky. It gives off a reddish orange glow. And as magical as that may seem, there is a scientific explanation. "

This morning, the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle had a large color photo of Coit Tower just as the eclipse started. The moon is a huge orange globe behind the Tower. Magnificent photo.

I thought it looked like blue cheese covered by a orange cheese spread.

The eclipse was cool. Red moon = awesome! This one was as good as any I've had the pleasure to see.

Here's a cool eclipse story - same "February eclipse" that we just saw.

it was at the perfect times of the day for me;
about 9 PM strolling outta the gym, twenty minutes later going-into the store and then an occasional glance
every little bit on the drive home (swerve!).
i put-aside a minute or two to just stare at it once i got home----four-hundred years ago or so, we would have wondered what the Gods were angy about-----
