I guess this is a question for Pap's, but also others if you were in his shoes. As you send out and plant a great seed like the 1068, what do you do with the last one? Do you plant it or frame it on the wall or something as a souvenier?

Agreed. The finest memorial is to pass those genes onto the next new super seed.

That would be mean, but funny, give Brooks a 1068 that he can't plant.

I was talking to Dave Stelts at Barnesville weigh off and he told me he has one 801 Stelts left that he said he will never see dirt, he said hes going to put in a frame. (if it isnt in one already). I told Dave, '"PLANT THAT BAD BOY!",LOL!

Pap, dont waste a perfectly good 1068 Wallace dipping it in gold! shesh!,lol

I think us pumpkin growers need a meca and the last 1068 could be that. Don't think pap and ron would like us turning their patch into a shrine. lol
But i would finally have something worthy of doing in winter. meca of the pumpkin world. lol

Boom is on to something. But all you need to do is make a cast of that seed. Then create as many copies as you like... necklaces, earrings, nose rings, you name it! ... You sell it! Get one free with each auction order of $100 or more... ah, I can see it now! LOL

I think Cliff's on to something here. Cast the last seed, (then grow it) then make as many gold ones as you like.

I could extract the DNA from within and implant it into a surrogate.{another 1068} Cross it with itself for 4 generations to ensure only true 1068 traits and the resulting seed crop from the "Dolly" pumpkin would be essentially an exact copy of the original seed. hopefully approximately 400 seed yield. All exact 1068s. $50,000.00 should cover it nicely. No checks or CODs please.
