Maybe I can get a green hankie to cry into when my pitiful little squash gets weighed. I know I'm lucky to have something to take to the wieghoff, but it's not at all what I had hoped for this year. No main vine set on my 576* and the 895.5* I had was pathetic. At least I managed to do a crossback with the 895.5*, but I'm not sure what to expect when the pollen parent showed so little this year. Right now it's growing tertiaries like crazy off the first secondary and flowers opening up daily. Too little too late for this plant to start showing signs of life.

My Squash were hit hard with mildew this year...hard and early. Being smaller plants they didn't have much of a chance....Im guessing 450 sq ft Xmas tree style plants here dont work if anything happens, so next year larger plants or a different fruit location. The end results were 521.5* from the 834Gadberry, 548*from the 895Hester, and 557 (16%heavy) from a 455based squash seed of mine. Gonna be a cold winter without a coat.
ps....all my squash will be brought to a contest or be on public display....how about yours??????......................G

After losing my biggest 834* offspring to *&%#@&$ mice (estimated 800# 2nd week of September) I wound up with a fairly decent 834* offspring on plant #2 estimated at 745#. Not enough to haul it across the state to the weigh offs, but it was selfed and has the same deep green charicteristics as its momma.

razo's squash should win by looks alone..!! that thing was MAMOTH. i was SOOOO impressed. although he didnt get 1000 he has to be proud.

thought you'd all enjoy this one: i painted my nails green symbolizing 'squash pride' (only squash growers can understand) and it helped; mine went heavy at 874.5.

I was there to see Steve Razo and the "Shrek" also. MOST impressive. Congrats to Christy for her varsity accomplishment,too. But my proudest moment went out when I got to see my wife, a 1st year grower, with her greenie weighing in at 861.5lbs for 3rd place. (It's a 756Kennedy03 X sib.) CONGRATULATIONS to all three.

Where can onne see a picture of RAZZO"S BEUTY. is it ribbed or smooth! My 729 Hancock beat my best pumpkinn of last year 676! Its also the first seed of my own, that im truley excited about growing.. 474.5 x 895.5 it was lighter in color than i wannted , but the 895 shoould magnify that! nice ribbed shape?

IMHO, It looked to me like Steve Razo's squash may have quit growing some time ago and lost weight. The stem appeared to be pretty much shot. Weighing in at 941.5#, it could have been 1000# at an earlier time.
