Ok...Its time for a shameless Plug
1132 Vincent-McGill 08* (995 Vincent-McGill* x 824 Brunst*)
The squash itself was 10% heavy. Pollinating plant grew a 21% heavy dark green squash. Many of the squash lines do not go over the chart very much. The 995 moma grew 4 squash this year the lightest was 7% heavy.
I believe this will be a great squash seed. The seed count was excellent and I would like to see this seed planted as much as possible. If you are interested in growing this one, I will make it available to anyone who wants one!

John can you give more info on the pollinater, what was the weight? was it your plant I don't see it listed on the aggc. How wase the health of both plants ? It seems like a very nice cross and the 1132 is a very nice looking squash.

The 824 was originally planted as a pollinator only on an unamended piece of ground. The first pollination took, although it had a defect in the blossom end (see diary). All attempts to pollinate after the main fruit aborted. The fruit was very aggressive out of the gate. day 10 measurements 31". The growth slowed as it progressed, I believe because of the poorly amended soil. I was worried about that blossom end right from day one. If finally split the first week of August. We weighed it on a bathroom scale at 469 lbs or 21% heavy!
I don't base a whole lot on this BES. I should have culled it right away and gone for another pollination. We left several open pollinated squash on the plant for fall decorations. Brian's boys showed them at Wellington. There are pictures of those on my diary as well so you can see the dark green colour.
The 995 Vincent 07* is 848 Mackenzie* x 898 Vincent 06*. The 898 was 824 Brunst* x 552 Sherwood*. The 995 was our patch best weight in 07. the 898 was our patch best weight in 06.
Both the 995* and the 824* were very healthy and aggressive.
As far as the GVGO seed packs. I donated 100 seeds to the distribution, so you have a 1 in 3 chance of getting one that way! They are also for sale in the GPC directors cut seed sale package!

Are there any seeds still available. My daughter wants to grow a squash this year, not a pumpkin. It will be her first attempt at a giant. Thanks.
