What's green and looks like a pumpkin plant? The 848* is widely planted this year. How is it growing for you? Mine is the best plant I've ever had out of the 60 or so I've grown in the past few years. The main fruit is ahead of the benchmark by 38%. I pray that it can be kept together.

Russ My main fruit on my 848 split on about day 15...whoops, had a second fruit on a secondary main abort day 12ish....whoops, have a couple of open pollinated growing nicely on secondaries, won't amount to much though. The plant itself is very aggressive with large leaves. I will likly try it again next year John

Hi Russ I grew an 848* in a very small back yard patch and have an approximately 320lb dark green fruit that I hope will get weighed officially at the Windsor N.S. weigh off on October7th. This was a great plant that was organically fed and which had to compete with limted sunshine due to location and the presence of large raspberry and sunflower canes.(newbie mistakes) It will certainly be given much more room next season. We also got hit hard early on in the season with cuke beetles, lots of powdery mildew throughout August and some high wind storms.... This is one tough plant with an extremely long stem and great colour....I'm very happy and pleased to have been able to have the chance to grow it! (...thanks, Bob)

I also grew the 848*. It was extremely aggressive, my nicest plant besides the 1180. BUT.....I wasn't ever able to get one to set.....got one to 80 lbs on a side vine, then it aborted.
Will try again though.
