For Years growers have been after me to grow green. the thought of it made me sick to my stomach. with room for only 6 plants why in the world would i waste the space for a greenie? I came across the 824Brunst 05 (f 890RazoX m.756.8Kennedy) 21% heavy i couldnt help myself had to give it ago. WOW!! 824 is outdoing any pumpkin i have pollinated. The only question i have can i paint the squash orange and take her to the pumpkin weigh-off? :) Grow-Green!!

For the GPC wieghoff its "heaviest wins" regardless of color. You can win with a greenie. Of course, you can get a nice bonus for a 100%orange one also, so much so I believe (don't quote me) that the second heaviest GPC fruit won more GPC money than the heaviest last year????

Glen..........I think you are right. But Greenie now has a sport jacket challenge, for the top green fruit. I think the rules are cleaned up so that a pumpkin with a few green stripes can not be a squash anymore. Hope I'm right on that too. :)

I also have a 824 going. It is by far the best plant in my patch. I have a real nice squash going on it I crossed with the 552 Sherwood. It was 31" at 10 days. Not Bad eh? Only problem is that its too close (10-12ft)and only a 4 lober. I have several more polinated further out. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Check out my diary for pics John

First year greenie grower/ second year AG. I too have planted a 456Breznick/764 Kennedy.....Recently late but in the ground......Its really taken off fast and will surpass the kins setup 3 weeks earlier......is this normal for a greenie.....is the vine supposed to be a different color compared to its orange counterpart?
