            | KC Kevin | Mission Viejo, CA | What are the top five amendments and/or ferts that you use in your patch? Organic or not, what wouldn't you do without? Azos? Mykos? What makes your pumpkin world go 'round? | 1/9/2015 7:41:11 PM |

Also we use more than 5 products so add 0-0-25 and liquid cal/mag..

            | So.Cal.Grower | Torrance, Ca. | Now that's an arsenal! | 1/19/2015 8:26:35 PM |
            | Smallmouth | Upa Creek, MO | What about "big bulk" amendments that people add to soil each year? I added alfalfa meal (150 pounds)last year and feel it helped out the soil quite a bit. Anyone else? | 1/19/2015 8:43:05 PM |
            | North Shore Boyz | Mill Bay, British Columbia | Yes Luke, good call but I consider those a soil ammendment (like compost and manure).
I rotate alfalfa meal one year and then kelp meal the next. I like the added micronutrients it adds and also the worms seem to love it.

            | North Shore Boyz | Mill Bay, British Columbia | Thanks cntryboy... | 1/19/2015 10:09:18 PM |
            | Big City Grower (Team coming out of retirement ) | JACKSON, WISCONSIN. ; ) | Lol.. Cec.... I would have to admit I do have a long list too.. But my top 5 are above... I know you have to throw everything at them.. Even the kitchen sink | 1/20/2015 8:53:43 AM |
            | Christopher24 | aurora, IL | I will be using Jersey Greensand, Humic Acid-86, BioGrow Endo Plus, BioGrow Soluble Max, Pumpkin Power, and more... ;) | 1/20/2015 12:49:56 PM |
            | HankH | Partlow,Va | Thats a good list Chris. I also use BioGrow Endo Plus for mycorr and hoe in humic, azos and coffee grounds with it.
As for the big bulk amendments the ones that I use the most I guess are pellet gypsum, a good 2" layer of leaves, and composted manure to me is very important. My soil OM is 2% so I need grow and to turn in cover crops and add compost to keep it up.
 | 1/20/2015 10:33:03 PM |
            | Christopher24 | aurora, IL | Last year I had 20 cubic yards of composted horse manure delivered for free to my family's 3600sqft garden and added 24 lbs of sulfur(30%) to one third, being the pumpkin patch because the pH was 7.7. | 1/20/2015 11:57:10 PM |
            | Smallmouth | Upa Creek, MO | Thanks all.
Hanks, I had to quit adding compost, my OM was approaching 20% and I had 2 bad years of disease. Along with alfalfa meal, I had 3 yards of sugar maple leaves and mow onto the already growing cover crop and like to believe it works it way in over winter. In spring, I actually add the alfalfa, gypsum, sometime dolomitic lime dpending on ph, and now maybe Kelp meal? I use humic, mycos, bio packed products, seaweed etc more when the plants growing on a smaller scale.
