Moving day for the 1725 Harp. I lost my first pollination on this plant in the early July heat. I had to go with the backup which ended up being 27 feet out. This fruit had all the secondaries behind it, 32 secondaries in total.
Next year I won't worry as much about being 15 feet out for pollination, and look more closely at the secondaries between fruit and stump. I'd like about 18 total, not 32.
We had such a cool spring the plant was growing slow but putting out the same amount of secondaries. In the first 8 feet of vine the secondaries are very close together, 11 vines in the first 6 feet. It made for a tough vine burying as walking between vines was hard.
Next year I'll count secondaries and not worry as much about main vine length which will get me earlier pollination and more high growth days in the better weather.
