The results from my tomato root experiment. I had planted some of the seedlings in a long pot and laid the root mass sideways in the ground. The long roots cover more area and the regular planted roots have more but more concentrated. Couldn't tell the difference in the plants or tomatoes either way so I don't think it really matters.
